Who would have thought that one of modern days most symbolic icons would be a pair of mouse ears. The significance behind these ears is one that has traveled to the far reaches of Never Never Land where Pixie Dust and endless amounts of Wishes and Dreams arise. Mickey Mouse has become a household name recognized by millions all around the world. What makes this place called Disney such a special destination? Could it be because this is the very place where children can go to experience their wildest fantasies and live amongst their most iconic animated friends? Or is it because adults can revisit their inner child and relive all the magic that they once knew and loved? Well it’s rather simple isn’t it? Disney has all of these qualities plus MILLIONS more. I look back on my experiences at Disney and cannot remember a single time when I did not get excited to see Cinderella’s castle or Walt Disney’s statue. Or getting to ride Splash Mountain over and over again or watching the spectacular fireworks display at the end of an adventurous day. Getting to walk down Main Street and experience all the joy that Disney brings to everyone who steps foot through its doors. Disney has been a second home to me for as long as I can recall and because of this I have decided to become apart of the Magic.
This is where my blog begins...
A few months ago I decided that I wanted to work for the Disney Company. Being able to put a smile on a young child’s face and creating magical memories for families all around the world seems to appeal to me, as it does thousands of other college students around the globe. I am of course talking about the Walt Disney World College Program. Who wouldn’t love to work at Disney? I mean an internship anywhere is always a huge plus for anyone, but a payed internship for Disney nonetheless! Who could complain about working in one of the most magical places in the world? Let me put it to you in a simple way. I AM SICK OF COLLEGE.... I feel like I have worked my butt off laboring my life away by devoting hundreds of hours to studying countless things that I know I will never need to know in the real world. That is not to say however that I do not enjoy school and put serious amounts of effort into it, it’s just more along the lines of I need a nice long break. Because I have done well in my first two years of college why not treat myself and apply to work at Disney? I mean who wouldn’t want to meet new people and create lifelong friends while working under one of the most notable names in the world? I like to think of these people as my D-Fam (Disney Family). All the people who have experienced this same love for Disney. All you fellow students who hope for acceptance into the program know exactly what I am talking about. In approximately 11 days applications for both the 2011 fall and fall advantage session will be released. This is the ticket we college kids have been looking forward to for months! Once applied we will all sit in high anticipation waiting to receive our purple folders that will, in hope, illuminate a big “Congratulations You’ve Been Accepted!” When this day comes I assure you I, as well as hundreds of other students around the globe, will jump up and down in vicious amounts of excitement and prosperity. The beginning of a new chapter will arise and we all will soon be living amongst the best, Mickey Mouse of course! If you have managed to read this far you are one of those people who shares my excitement, who longs for something other than tedious loads of school work. A person who wants to branch out and experience life at its fullest. A child at heart, gasping at the mention of... DISNEY! From this point on I will take you through the journey of applying and being accepted into the WDWCP! Get ready kids, it’s going to be a wild ride! Until next time... Hakuna Matata!
